Maarten Baas barely needs an introduction. For the last twenty years, the renowned Dutch designer has been capturing the hearts of design lovers with playful objects that evoke the imperfection of the human hand instead of the straight line of the machine. For his new collaboration with valerie_objects, it is no different. After creating a quirky set of cutlery and an iconic pepper mill, valerie_objects now proudly presents an entire set of tableware objects, from plate to water can, called Inner Circle.
With the Selfie mirror, Studio Wieki Somers once again captures the poetry of everyday rituals. Getting out of bed, checking your state in the mirror and choosing what clothes to wear. Simple and quite basic actions that will have an impact on your feelings for the rest of the day. That’s why we should honour this ritual, in the form of a mirror that doubles as a coat rack.
With Dishes to Dishes, architect and designer Glenn Sestig offers a range of creative and culinary options. Whether as plates or dishes, functional or purely decorative, individual or stacked. “ This collection easily adapts to any style of interior design” says Sestig, who relied on the basic form of his “Pleasure Dôme” for the creation of this brand new line for valerie_objects. “This form permits the elegant stacking of the bowls, where every base forms the lid of the lower one.”
Linde Freya Tangelder, the woman behind destroyers/builders, drew inspiration for ETAGE in the architecture of the Danish architect Per Kirkeby and the project "House V_H" of the Belgian agency Dhoore Vanweert. Constructions that show plenty of curvy structures and laterally cut surfaces. “Both the rear surface and the shelves follow a particular curve which ensures the allure of a skeletal frame. The frame of an organic sculpture. "
ETAGE is available in three different sizes and different materials: brass, aluminium, ash and oak with either a light or a dark finish.
The cutlery “skelton” has been reduced to the absolute minimum, limiting the amount of material used whilst still retaining its functionality, left remaining is the outline of the cutlery like the image of a skeleton reflected in an X-ray. It can be hooked and stored in various places in the kitchen and the teaspoon can be hooked onto the rim of the cup. There are four items, a spoon, fork, knife, and teaspoon, the set also has a dedicated stand and wall hook to display the set. The cutlery is also available with a black PVD coating.
We have the pleasure of presenting you our new collaboration with the young conceptual designer Linde Freya Tangelder (NL) a.k.a. Destroyers/Builders. As her studio name suggests, the Brussels based designer is a deconstructionist pur sang. Linde Freya extracts the small and seemingly banal elements of architecture such as bricks, joints and tubes and translates them into design objects that spark the interior. ‘I zoom in on the elements that most architects try to keep out of sight’, Linde Freya says. ‘I want to give these shapes the attention they deserve’.

add more spice (to the dinner table)
Since the very beginning of valerie_objects, we have shown a great interest in all tools that surround the dinner table. It is no coincidence that we started off by redefining the shape of cutlery and continued by offering table objects such as the dinner trays of Muller Van Severen (which acquired kind of a cult status over the years).
And now, with great proud, we present our next dinner related project: the pepper & salt project.
For this, we gave five designers carte-blanche to create a...
Muller Van Severen, the design couple that is renowned for their highly stylized objects and playful colours, has designed a beautiful set of cutlery consisting of a knife, a fork and two spoons. The tableware looks simple, functional and uncompromisingly ‘Muller Van Severen’.
The simpler the object appears, the harder it is to make: that’s the golden rule of pure design. For this project it was no different. ‘It took us three years to create a prototype that could be manufactured’, Hannes Van Severen says. The predicament was the special handle which consists of a...
